Course delivery definitions are changing for the 2014-15 academic year. The new definitions impact the coding for Attendance Methods in Banner, the Class Search for student registration and the printed Class Schedule. Please review the information below to understand the impact of these important changes.
Over the years, Chemeketa has offered courses in a variety of different modalities in order to meet student demand. As the number of course delivery options increased, confusion about expectations for each delivery option increased.
In response, Academic Standards created a taskforce to review the current definitions of online, hybrid and traditional classroom course delivery. The taskforce was charged with recommending new definitions and developing a timeline to implement the changes.
The taskforce presented the new definitions to Academic Standards last year and were given the go-ahead to move forward with implementation for the 2014-15 academic year.
There will be no significant changes to the definitions for online (OL) or hybrid (HY) course delivery. The most noteworthy change involves the removal of Traditional Classroom (TC) which will be replaced by either Web-Required (WR) or Web-Optional (WO).
Several documents are available to help clarify the new definitions – the Attendance Methods Codes 2014-15 (also posted on Dashboard), is a matrix outlining the new codes and possible case scenarios for PCs and faculty to use when determining the appropriate course delivery code. The Course Delivery/Attendance Methods Definitions includes the new definitions (both documents also attached for your convenience).
Chemeketa Online will be offering faculty an opportunity to drop in to 9/106 with any questions on Wednesday, April 9th from 10:30-11:30am.
If you are unable to make either of those times, feel free to contact Alba or Bonnie:
The new definitions will be added to the electronic class search and the printed 2014 Summer Class Schedule. An All-Student email will be sent out in mid-May, prior to student registration for summer term.
